HOW ADVANCE INFUSED THEIR THEIR HOMETOWN INTO THEIR COLLECTION

AdVance just previewed their upcoming “Natural State” collection, and from the colours to the designs and details, it is packed with allusions referenced from the brand owners home town in Arkansas (USA).

The designer used subtle odes to home and reimagined them through a more evocative perspective within nine looks comprised of stark contrasts and experimental styling. With a topographic map of the region textured into the knit garments, plus the orange and gold tinted colouration derived from shooting clays and pollen, it all serves as easter eggs for the people back home.

The collection is also accompanied by a short campaign film titled “Natural State”, created by Kai Czarnowski. It was shot on 16mm to add texture to the visuals and, more importantly, colour accuracy, something difficult to achieve digitally, given some of the popping colours.

A huge inspiration for this film was Tarkovsky’s “Solaris”. The ‘’Natural State’ film reinforces the designer’s evocative approach to the collection through the brutal/sterile environment and uneasy sound composition, creating a juxtaposing setting with the organic and textural garments, overall matching the atmosphere of the collection.

Head to their page and stay tuned for their drop on the 20th of this month!
