The longevity of the password method. Is it played out or nah?
If you didn’t know what this is, it's simply when brands close their online stores and you’d need a password to enter the website once the online store is open. Passwords are usually sent out via email, but Corteiz, the widely known pioneer of this method would send out passwords via Twitter, Instagram stories and other random ways Clint would be feeling on drop days.
Now obviously the purpose of this method promote exclusivity. It's a breath of fresh air as it's different. It gives a chance for the real core supporters to get their hands on a piece as the most loyal consumers would be more incentivised to grab themselves some pieces. this keeps the customer base tight and close knit as it's not as accessible as other brands.
Now over time with corteiz for example, it has become much more accessible and the talk around them using passwords to enter their site has died down a little as consumers have become more accustomed to how to shop with Corteiz, Im not even fully sure if Corteiz still use the method today. In turn, other brands followed suit and still use this method today but the question is, has this become boring or is that exclusive feeling still there?
