Mattias Gollin recently showcased his newest custom in collaboration with Moonboot after his iconic pearl encrusted timbs last year.
It got me thinking though, which shoe is next?
If you’re been around this space long enough, you’ll know that custom shoes is nothing new. Dating all the way back to 2020, designers was pumping out custom Jordan 1s and Air forces on a weekly basis. For me it was one of the most significant eras in “underground streetwear” space.
Custom Airforces can actually even be dated back to before then as we’d get a lot of artists paint on them with the craziest of graphics. That was closer to the peak streetwear era.
Moving forward from 2021 onward, we saw the introduction of the Nike Dunks being customised a lot. Additionally we also saw the Bapesta and Converse getting the customisation treatment too.
Fast forward to the past year and a half, we’ve seen Timb boot dominate this customisation space. In the mix of it we’ve seen other footwear such as Vans, Birks and more get customised.
But again, which shoe is next?
